Extend help to energy deprived households

A new campaign announced yesterday aims at urging the government to offer energy support to fuel poor households

To combat the fuel poverty in UK, a new campaign has been launched yesterday that aims at highlighting the predicament of the households that are deprived of enough fuel.

The campaign is named ‘Warm House Campaign’. Through this measure, it has been urged to the government that it should take more appropriate steps to provide sufficient fuel to the needy households, this winter.

The campaign has been organized by the fuel poverty charities National Energy Action (NEA) and Energy Action Scotland. The two bodies have estimated that more than 5 million households will face fuel crisis this winter. It also indicated that around 25,000 more people fall victim of death in the winter season than during the rest of the year.

Jenny Saunders, chief executive of the NEA, said: “For millions of people, winter brings poor health, isolation, debt and worry, due to high energy costs, poorly insulated homes and low incomes.”

She also indicated that households with lesser income require immediate fuel support through ways like grants so that they can improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Warm House Campaign is also inviting politicians to visit the projects that run around UK by various charity and self regulated organizations to improve the energy conditions of poor people. The visit will offer homage to all those who have strived to make a difference to the lives of people who struggle with their energy bills Norman Kerr, director of Energy Action Scotland, said: “We want to demonstrate to decision-makers in Government the continued need for, and value of, schemes that maximize incomes, reduce fuel bills and improve the energy efficiency of homes.”

In the Queen’s speech tomorrow, it is expected that a new energy bill that includes more help for vulnerable households, will be featured..

It has been found from the latest financial results that the number of customers taking the broadband, home phone and digital TV bundles has been increased by Sky Broadband.

According to the results, in the three months the number of customers taking the broadband provider’s triple play bundles increased from 12% to 17%. Not only this, 100,000 new broadband customers have been added by the Sky Broadband thus bringing the total to 2.3 million. The company brought the total to 1.9 million by adding around 132,000 home phone customers. This is all possible because of the discounts offered to the broadband customers while they sign up to Sky Talk at the same time.

Soon more customers will be able to link to the ISP’s LLU network at reasonable prices and faster speeds as 70% of local telephone exchanges have now been upgraded and enabled for full local loop unbundling (LLU). Sky had 150,000 fully unbundled customers at 30 September.

The chief executive of Sky broadband, Jeremy Darroch, said: “In what continues to be a tough economic environment, we have increased the number of customers joining Sky. High -definition has continued to perform very well and more customers are saving money by choosing Sky for each of TV, broadband and telephony.

Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director,Michael Phillips, added: “The discounts that Sky offers to customers taking all three of its services – broadband, home phone and digital TV- which allow customers to take advantage of one of the few ‘free broadband’ offers still on the market, will have gone a long way to attracting new customers who want to save money on their broadband without compromising on their home telecoms.”

Compact cameras
Automatic cameras

Single Lens Reflex (SLRs)

Most of the cameras of the present times are SLRs. These cameras come with very less options. They come without the features like auto-focus and auto-exposure. These cameras come at very low prices. The reason behind this is that they have very less applications. A very big benefit of this camera is that user can control it all times, but it may be a disadvantage for the users who are using the camera at initial stage. The SLR has very less limits and if you have the appropriate knowledge, you can capture the pictures of everything with complete control on the camera.

Compact cameras

Compact cameras are the lightweight small cameras. They come with easy to user functionality. You can carry them easily and can keep them in your pocket. Many of these cams consist of two buttons. You just have to capture the pictures and put the cam back in your pocket. These cams come at very low price as compared to SLRs. These cameras facilitate the hassle-free image capturing to the users.

Automatic cameras

There are several automatic compact cameras and SLRs available in the market. Automatic focus and setting the exposure are the main advantages of these automatic cams. In most of them, film is advanced automatically. Some of them have the feature to activate the cam when required. Automatically setting the correct exposure for the flash is a common feature in all of them.

Apart from the above information, you can read about cameras in terms of their features which include:

1. Film Format

2. Flash

3. Weight

4. Auto-focus

Film Format

There are different types of cameras available in the market, which consist of different film formats. For instance, APS (Advanced Photo System) cameras consist of easy to use functionality, but are very expensive. These cams use APS films which are easy to load. In this, there is no need to worry about loading them. You can load them just by dropping them and closing the trap door. Some of these cameras come at cheap rates but their running cost is very high which include purchasing film roll and paying for development of films. APS film is also used in some compact cameras. Normally, 24 x 36 film is used in 35 mm cameras. Image size cannot be changed. The 24 x 36 films are cheaper as compared to APS films.

Flash

Flash is a necessary attribute to consider before buying a camera. It is a very important feature of a camera which is used to capture the pictures in dim light or dark. In case, if you are thinking to buy the flash separately, then automatic flash is recommended to you. In most of the cases, flashes have three or four different automatic ranges. Moreover, you can use them in manual modes as well. One thing that should always be kept in mind is that the flash should be compatible with your camera.

Weight

If you are carrying a lot of things with you then the weight of camera matters a lot for you. Compact cameras are very often the lightweight cameras which can easily be carried. On contrary, the SLR cameras are comparatively heavier because of the accessories, but the main advantage in them is that they provide better picture quality.

Auto-Focus

Everyone wants to get sharp and good-quality pictures. Auto-focus plays a major role to accomplish this purpose. Moving in and out of the lens till the best possible picture of the subject come into the focus, is called focusing.
