The latest uSwitch study unveiled that the average Brit spends around 30 hours online in a week. On a working day, the Internet users spend around 2 hours online for work purposes while 3 hours are spent for the purpose of entertainment. About 33% of the people come in the category of those who don’t make use of the Internet at work. At the weekend, an average person works on Internet for at least 3 hours per day. This number increases up to 8 hours for the people between the age group of 18 – 24. Around 93% of the people use Internet for the purpose of shopping. Around 2 hours is spent by 79% of the population per week for the purpose of shopping. 18% of the population claims that that they don’t use their bank’s online services. 28% spend around 1 or 2 hours in a week to use their bank’s online services while 44% spend up to an hour for banking online in a week.
One of the prominent reasons behind people spending lots of their time on Internet is Social networking. It has been found that about 25% of adults use sites like Facebook, Twitter etc at least once a day. Other 27% believe that social networking is a good thing.
