Free broadband – revolutionary deals from TalkTalk

Recently awarded the ‘Best Value for Money for Bundled Services, TalkTalk has emerged as one of the most decisive Internet Service Providers in the UK. It is able to offer some of the cheapest broadband offers available today because it has it’s own local loop unbundled (LLU) network. I have been overawed by the fact that inspite of providing very economic packages, Talk Talk has been consistently improving it’s reputation with excellent customer services.

TalkTalk also spearheaded the revolutionary “free broadband” movement in the market which was a massive success with it’s cheap broadband packages. All those who want a new connection can avail this deal which is valid until 24′th August, on all new online orders with savings worth £19.47 on their bills. This deal offers a speed of upto 8MB which I think is very decent considering the fact that it’s not being charged. Also I am not a very heavy downloader and my occasional endeavour is restricted to the downloading of a few songs and a couple of movies per month. So the liberal 40GB monthly download allowance that is included in the deal should suffice all my needs. Still if someone thinks that this limit doesn’t meet up to his/ her needs he/ she can opt for boosts that offer a doubled download allowance, speeds of up to 24Mb and internet security for the PCs and which come for a modest £ 2 per month. Moreover TalkTalk also provides the wireless broadband router absolutely free along with this deal as well as unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines . So a very good deal has just got even better.

Digital Champion calls for broadband for the deprived Brits

Digital Champion is the name of latest Internet service of Britain. The main objective of this advanced service is to facilitate six million poorest Brits in bringing them online.

Martha Lane Fox, founder of Lastminute.com, announced one thing at her very first speech soon after she got authorised. She stated that around 17 millions of British people are not getting the Internet service as they are not able to afford them. So definitely she would be working for those six million people “at the bottom of the pile”.

Lane Fox told the Reboot Britain conference that working with the Internet service would help the people in longer way. With this online service, the people can learn, can save their hard-earned money and can seek for better job options.

After two long weeks of demonstrating UK Online centres to cross those Brits who are attempting to get online, Lane Fox stated: “We are really going to focus, I hope, on the six million that are at the bottom of the pile. Partly because that is the correct thing to do and partly because we are familiar with these people – who they are and where they live”

“I am sure we can put our arms around the situation,” she said.

The Government’s Digital report of Britain is planning to spend about £200 million to provide speeds of at least 2Mb common to every resider in Britain.

Well, the report also declared that it is observed that 43 percent of people do not have interest in getting online due to the lack of Internet facility. Lane Fox illustrated that fascinating people with Internet technology should benefit in getting them inspired for getting them online and even more out of it.

“It should mean to all of us because 80 percent of government interactions are with the bottom 25 per cent of society,” she justified. “By keeping that 25 percent offline, it means that you are inherently keeping the cost of government high”.

Michael Phillips, who is the product director of BroadbandChoices.co.uk, expressed: “Getting people online and helping to close the digital divide is really very important. Not having connection with the Internet can leave you seriously disadvantaged – even achieving less and saving less.”

Is social shopping site the next revolution? Entrepreneurs thinks so

Some articles on social shopping sites have been posted by Caroline McCarthy last week that have increased new rounds of funding. As McCarthy enumerated, StyleFeerer increased $2 million and then at present ThisNext increased to $5 million in another round of financing from Anthem Venture Partners and Clearstone Venture Partners. This news giving stress to the mounting popularity of social shopping with venture capitalists and high expectations of a future social shopping growth.

We have already done with two social shopping protocols and a search in Google for “social shopping” offers a wide collection of sites that are competing to be in the list. I personally think these websites are not going to be successful because they are lacking one potent part: sizable communities. Some of the sites, including ThisNext have got attention of number of users but in my opinion these are not enough to give competition to the mainstream social networks that are also becoming a social shopping sites.

Facebook has made clear that they are determined to get engrossed with the social shopping market by giving developers access to their present payment system: wallet. The time when Facebook enhances their payment system API to developers, that time we are going to see a great movement in social shopping activity. Ultimately Facebook Beacon was the starting of the site’s push to capture the social shopping space that unluckily for Facebook ended in a P.R. failure rather than a technological change.

Over the next 12 to 24 months I would hope the competition will be more stiffer in this space as Facebook( and Myspace and other social sites) start their own base and integrated e-commerce attributes. So, what you think about social shopping? Do you have any information what social shopping is all about?

For mobile phone payments these ten companies can help a lot

There are only handful of companies providing good mobile payment system even though mobile banking has become so popular these days. There are two types of companies which are providing this service. First one which lets one to use the mobile phone to charge payments to one’s bank account while other one will let individuals charge payment with their mobile phone bills.Though there are few great players involved in it, most of the companies in this field are self started.

Using your phone you can pay from your bank account.

The service uses mobile phone to pay from one’s bank account and is becoming increasingly popular now a days. For doing this individual has to link the mobile phone with one’s bank or credit card account then whenever one swipe the phone at contactless pay stations the money is directly debited through bank account like a debit card.
The companies which offers this easy to use service are as below:

With mobile banking software included, these mobile phones will grow fast in this business of contactless payment.

I really hate the 80′s and I confess that

Being born in the middle of 80′s, I was really young then to remember any of the attributes of it’s culture and instead prefer ceaseless memories of Thomas The Tank Engine. That is not entirely true as I actually remember part of the culture. I remember perms and I remember mullets. And I also remember a profusion of atrocities committed by baby boomers which my young eyes had to bear. And this acute sense of loathing for all 80′s things was farther developed and systematically reinforced by the greatest of all such heinous crimes- the double denim.

This will come as a terrible revelation to all my readers: double denim is back.

Still we have hope. We can hope that we have spotted it soon enough. There’s hope that we can unveil the horrors of double denim infront of the people before it really spreads. And fashionising.com is going to be the vanguard for the attack: usually fully backing the majority of fashion trends and micro-trends, we are going to label the double denim trend in fashion as the biggest faux pas amongst the entire 2009′s fashion trends and 2010′s fashion trends.

Who Has Designed It For 2009/2010

The biggest violator to date has been William Rast’s Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009/2010 catwalk, but we can be sure of encountering more of such travesties as we have moved only a quarter through the 2009/2010 fashion week season.

Whom to mock

Mock is a very profound word but it is justified against a profound fashion trend already evident in women’s 2009 and 2010 catwalk and there are already a lot of people who are following this.

Kanye West seems to be one such avid follower who has paired the look with his afro-mullet hair style. Recently we have also traced out double denim in a lot of street style pictures.
Reasons To Avoid This Trend

1. It’s a really dull style. Look at William Rast’s Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009/2010 collection above (the three models, centre to right, in the top picture)

2. Whats next after double denim? Reintroduction of the perm style? Prevalence of the neo-mullet? May be even killer shoulder pads but Marc Jacobs has already destroyed that part of humanity. Read ‘Beyond Double Denim’ below to know more about other things which may make a possible come-back as a result.

3. A large number of really bad photos of you will be taken which will eventually end up in our street style collection or on face book and will then proceed for a world wide spread. A few years down the line and you will curse yourself for wearing it once. Come 2050 and your grand-children will be mocking you and denying your existence.

4. What will be your answer on the Judgement Day?(note: not really sure about that fact, but why to risk it? )

5. A lot of regret will follow suit.

6. Really a lot of regret.

Beyond Double Denim

If we finally failed to counter such a blunder like this one and accepted the double denim, it’s easy enough to guess it’s follow through and natural succession.

Really nice guess- perms, acid wash denim, and hammer pants.

Is there hope?

There’s always hope, but stopping double denim from becoming a fashion trend is going to be like stopping all those people who always like a return gift on a friend’s birthday.

And my dear readers, a lot of it is going to look like a charity work.

Easy run for LTE

At one of the recent wireless conferences, an industry expert emphasized on the utility of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) and assured that the technology will benefit the people in the best possible manner. In fact, it will not face any problem while competing with the fixed broadband connections.

Professor Michael Walker, R&D director for Vodafone UK assured that the technology of LTE is capable enough to match the connection speed provided by a regular fixed broadband connection. He illustrated his point regarding LTE at the UK’s Wireless 2.0 conference.

With the advent of wireless LTE technology, the Internet browsing will become all the more convenient and the users will enjoy better service, assured Professor Williams. According to him, the user friendly LTE technology is developed to provide maximum throughput speeds of 100 Mbps which is equivalent to the speed promised by FTTH (Fibre to the Home) technology.

The upgraded technologies of LTE, WiMAX and FTTH are currently engaged in a superiority race to become the official key technology infrastructure in the UK. The Vodafone’s take on that is made clear by the following statements.

On comparing the HSDPA networks which are employed by almost all the mobile operators in UK, LTE finishes at the top as it supports 20 MHz spectrum capacity. Professor Walker admitted that the technology ensures 15 Mbps downloading speeds with the spectral efficiency of 4.5 at the initial real field trials. Moreover, LTE produced good field results of 20 Mbps which can be obtained at the centre of the LTE cell and 1.3 Mbps is provided at the outer edge.

In addition to this, Walker has put forward the importance of the trial before the implementation of any technology. He cited the example of Vodafone and threw light on it’s experience of spending much on the 3G auctions where the technology worked way below the promised plans. He referred to this only to make clear that LTE should meet all the demands which have been promised.

He disclosed the variation one usually finds with 3G. At times, the users enjoy 300Kbit/s whereas at other times, it gets limited to 1Mbit/s only. He assured nothing like this will happen with LTE.

BlackBerry’s Bluetooth watch on the cards?

BlackBerry, with its determination to outshine others, has released its own watchphone. No pictures of its design are available yet, and based on Sony Ericsson’s Bluetooth watch, we think this is what it might look like.

Some of its features are out and we have tried to weigh them up against the LG phone. The biggest difference lies in the fact that this is not going to be a standalone device. It can be paired with your BlackBerry phone via Bluetooth. Hence, the phone is expected to have a lower price tag. Besides, the vulnerability to software bugs and tons of other issues that one would associate with a mobile phone watch are completely eliminated.

BlackBerry(or RIM) has also vowed to put in a “solid selection of features”. What this implies, we cannot say at the moment. However, based on certain rumours and some pieces of information from RIM, we can say that one would be able to check messages(text, email and BlackBerry messenger) and read twitter and facebook posts. Watch this space for future developments on this concept.

BE dishes out voucher code to receive two months free broadband

There are a lot of people who continually brag about BE and talk about how appalling their service is. But I have been with BE for quite some time now and trust me my experience has been anything more than satisfactory. I have never experienced any unscheduled outages and the customer service is simply amazing. BE has established itself as a gamer’s choice by allowing gamers make moreout of their connection by changing their router’s settings. BE also became the official broadband provider of the UK eSports Association in February 2009.

The latest from BE is that it’s currently offering two months free deals on new subscriptions to  it’s BE Value, BE Pro and BE Unlimited packages provided users sign up before 31 August 2009. While signing up any of these packages the  subscribers are given  coded vouchers  and they subsequently need to enter these codes to avail the free offer. However these free incentive vouchers are available only with BE’s 12-months products.

I had been using BE Pro  package for some time but I upgraded to the BE Unlimited package as I needed a lot of downloading. This was available  with a £ 17.50 per month contract for 12 months. There was no connection fee. Uptil now I had been getting around 18-20 MB of down speed on the projected 24 MB slot but I think this to be fairly decent as my place is a bit further from the exchange. Anyone who wants to  take up a new 12 months contract should definitely try out on BE and avail 2 months of free service along with good speed and excellent customer support.

Ofcom’s Communications Market Report proves broadband is a priority luxury

How many of us can figure out our lives without the need for internet when today, things right from shopping to planning our travel are increasingly being done through the internet. It has become the medium where we stay connected to our family and friends via the networking sites. Everything is very fast and accessible. My life would be in a jeopardy if I  suddenly find myself being  unable to access internet for more than a couple of days at most ; I think the same would happen to anyone else.

Telecoms watchdog, Ofcom recently published its annual Communications Market Report earlier this month, giving an insight into the workings of UK’s multi billion pound communication market involving TV, radio, broadband, telecoms and mobile industries. The report clearly illustrates that broadband has been a priority necessity in the people’s households where 65 per cent of UK households had a fixed-line broadband connection in Q1 2009, an increase of 7 per cent from last year. The turn of the decade could well see the implementation of the  much talked about and proposed  plans printed in the Digital Britain report which aims at making broadband accessible to everyone. Ofcom also found that 84.3 per cent of consumers across the country were able to access Local Loop Unbundling (LLU)  services which result in availing cheaper deals for broadband.

There are various reasons why today we can see broadband as a priority amenity and how this has been possible. 2009 was a notable year when UK consumers accessed very fast speeds with Virgin Media launching it’s XXL 50MB cable broadband service. BT has also managed to grab accolades for it’s extensive £1.5bn fibre network layering which is due for completion in 2012.All these have immensely increased the future possibilities in terms of accessing cheap and fast broadband services in the UK.
